You spoke, we listened. We understand that some of our users wish to communicate with a foreign party without needing the recipient to download BiiB, the multilingual messenger. We heard you and are happy to say we’ve released a web app just for this purpose.
This web app runs on any PC or mobile web browser (Chrome is recommended), and it lets your contacts chat with you without having to install our app. They can start communicating in under 10 seconds, and it translates as well as the mobile app.
All you have to do is let them scan your web QR code on your app or send them your web link. To access this, go to the QR code menu on your BiiB mobile app. Then, tap on the BiiB Web tab, and you will see your web QR code and your web link. Your URL format is https://biib.me/web/yourusername. For example, if your username is janedoe, your web URL would be https://biib.me/web/janedoe.
Once your contact scans the QR code, they will be redirected to their web browser to access your web link. From there, they only have to choose their native language and start chatting with you.
Your contacts don’t even need to register with email address or phone number. No username is required too!
Our system will generate a unique username for your contact. While it comes with the typical web push notification, this web app is also powered with voice-to-text functionality, and it allows your contacts to send photos and videos to you.
A bit of a caveat, due to Apple’s iOS operating system limitation, the speech-to-text and notification features don’t work on iOS devices like iPhones. But this web app works perfectly on the good old Mac OS. And if your contact is an Android user, they have nothing to worry about.
Best of all, this web app is free for you and your contacts to use forever. We feel that this small feature is a tiny step for us, but a giant leap for our users. You may download BiiB on Google Play or the Apple App Store to test drive this new web feature.
We think this web function can be super useful for establishments that need to serve foreign customers, such as hotels, restaurants, clinics, hospitals, tourist shops, tourist attractions, tourist information centers, and more.
This may sound super cliché, but we do want to make the world a better place, one language translation at a time.
