Getting Started

Do I need to register to use the app?

No, you don’t need to sign up using an email address or phone number. You just need to provide your name and a unique username to start using the app.

What languages do you support?

We currently support English, Simplified/Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, Hindi, Russian, Khmer and Burmese language. More languages are always being added. Please check our Apple App Store or Google Play app listing for latest information.

This means that whatever language someone used to send to you, our app will automatically translate the message into your language and back.

How do I invite someone to use the app?

Every user is given a QR code inside the app. You just need to ask your contact to scan the QR code using their phone’s QR reader. They will be redirected to the Apple App Store or Google Play to download and install the app. They don’t need to register to use the app, so it’s pretty fast.

You can also invite them using SMS within the app.

How do I set up my language?

When you install the app, you need to set your default language. That’s it! After that, when you send messages to your contacts, they will receive your messages in their default language. When they reply you in their language, you will still receive their messages in your own language.

How the auto-translation works?

Our auto-translation feature uses an AI translation engine to interpret each message in different languages. It checks for spelling, grammar, idioms, and more. Even if you misspell certain words or use abbreviations, it will auto-correct and translate to the right word.

Must the other side also use the same app?

No, not necessarily. The person you’re trying to communicate with can use our web app if they have not installed our mobile app. They just need to scan your QR code on your app or tap on your unique BiiB Web link. This will open the link in their web browser, and they can begin chatting with you.

However, if they want to maintain their conversation history with you, or to have a better user experience, they should install the mobile app.

Is this app completely free of charge?

Yes, it is as free as other chat apps like WhatsApp, LINE, WeChat and KakaoTalk. You can continuously use it to communicate in different languages.

Sending Messages

How fast can your app translate my messages?

Your messages are sent and translated very quickly within seconds. This means there is very little delay between sending and receiving your messages in other languages.

Do I need to copy and paste each message to translate?

Absolutely no. You don’t even need to tap on the message to translate it. All translations are done automatically and all messages appear in your preferred language.

Can I convert my voice to text?

Yes, you can. We want to make life easier for you, so we included this speech-to-text feature for free. This means you just need to speak to the app and it will convert your voice to text. Then, your recipient will receive your text in their local language.

Can I send files or images?

Yes, certainly. Just like other messaging apps, you can also send documents, images and files when you chat.

Can I view the original message that was sent to me?

Yes, there’s a button on top of each conversation screen that lets you see all the text messages in their original form without translation.

How safe are my messages?

Your messages are sent over secure HTTPS connections, so no one can eavesdrop. All messages are processed by our AI engine according to our privacy policy.

Can I use the same username on different mobile phones?

You can actually. But do not encourage you to do that. But do note that only one phone will receive notification of new messages.

Translating Languages

How accurate is the translation?

We’re proud to say our translations are more accurate than Google Translate. Our AI translation engine can recognize misspelled words, wrong grammar, abbreviations and also common idioms.

Can I change my default language later?

Yes, but your previous messages will be maintained in your previous default language.

How accurate is your translation between non-English languages?

We do support non-English to non-English translation including non-Roman languages such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Please download our app and try it out.

Backup & Restore

Can I backup my messages?

Yes, you can backup your data but you need to create a recovery account using your email address. This is because we need to identify you as the owner of your data when you restore the data later.

How do I restore my messages?

To restore your past messages, download and install our app again. Then, during the onboarding process, log in to your recovery account. From there, you should follow the instructions to restore your backed-up messages.

Privacy

How do you store my messages?

Your chat messages are private and cannot be accessed by others. Please read our privacy policy for more details.

Do you collect and store the phone numbers and details of my contacts from my phone?

We only read your contacts’ details to check if they are using this app so that you can connect with them. Rest assured that we do not share your contact details with anyone.

Nonetheless, you can choose not to share our contacts’ information when you are using the app. This means you will not be able to see which of your contacts are using this app.

Can I eventually delete my account?

Yes, there is a delete account option under Settings. Once your account is deleted, all traces of your data will be completely erased and will not be recoverable. You will not be able to restore your data.

Where do you store my data?

We store our data in our cloud infrastructure that is hosted by Amazon AWS or Google Cloud. This means your data is secure and safe from potential leaks. No one can access your data unless explicitly authorized for service support or legal compliance.

Do you share my personal data and messages with anyone?

No, absolutely not. Unlike some messaging apps, our strict policy is not to share any of your data with anyone.
